10th Director-general of UNESCO / Patron of the International Science Council (ISC)
Irina Bokova is a Bulgarian politician and was 10th Director-General of UNESCO(2009-2017) and was the first woman to lead the Organization. She was on the Forbes list of the world’s most influential women for 2016. She is currently a member of the Board of “Ban Ki Moon Centre for Global Citizens”, Chair of the Board of Governors of the UN University of Peace, Costa Rica, Member of the Concordia Leadership Council, New York, Member of the Leadership Council of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), New York, Member of the Strategic Committee of the Paris School of International Affairs /PSIA/ at SciencesPo, among other activities. Recently, she was elected as the Patron of the International Science Council (ISC) and is actively involved in its initiatives.
